India has become the global hub for capability centers. Over 1,580 GCCs are already here, employing nearly 1.9 million professionals. But for all that growth, there’s one thing most of them are still getting wrong, hiring fast.
Let’s be honest. India isn’t short on talent. What’s missing is a better way to tap into it – faster, sharper, and with a local lens.
At Talentiser, we work with global teams every day to help them set up and scale their India GCCs. We’ve seen where the hiring machine jams, why great candidates walk away, and what needs to change. This isn’t just theory. It’s a lived experience.
Here’s what’s really slowing things down, and how to fix it.
1. You’re Hiring for a Market That Doesn’t Exist
Many global teams enter India expecting to find someone who’s got Ivy League credentials, a decade of experience, and is happy with a cost arbitrage salary.
Spoiler: That person doesn’t exist. Or they’ve already been hired by your competitor.
What to do: Ground your JDs in market reality. Do a fresh scan of available talent, updated salary bands, and how competitors are structuring their roles. The Indian hiring market shifts fast. Your data needs to keep up.
2. Your Process is Slower Than the Market
A four-round interview process with a three-week gap between each round? That might work in some global markets. In India, you’ve lost the candidate by Round 2.
People here don’t wait around. The good ones have multiple offers within days.
What to do: Cut the bloat. Empower your local teams to make quicker decisions. Set a 10-day target from application to offer, and stick to it.
3. You’re Invisible to the People You Want to Hire
Most GCCs are known internally in global orgs, but no one here has heard of them. You may be doing incredible work, but if you’re not visible in India’s talent circles, you’re not even in the consideration set.
What to do: Build your employer brand from Day 1. Put your leaders out there. Talk about your work. Celebrate your team. Make yourself discoverable. Candidates today don’t just look at the job, they look at your story.
4. You’re Working With the Wrong Hiring Partners
Here’s a hard truth, most traditional hiring firms are not built for the pace or complexity of GCC hiring. They don’t understand your global expectations, and they can’t move at Indian market speed.
What to do: Find partners who get both worlds. The ones who know how to balance governance with speed, and structure with scrappiness. The kind who understand this market’s quirks, and how to make them work for you.
What’s Really at Stake?
A McKinsey report said it best, companies that hire faster don’t just fill roles quicker, they attract better talent. In India, the decision window for a top candidate is often under two weeks.
And we’re only going to get more competitive. GCCs are set to contribute $100 billion to India’s economy by 2030 (NASSCOM). The war for talent? It’s already on.
Talentiser’s POV
We believe building a high-performing GCC in India doesn’t need to feel like guesswork. But it does require a local-first mindset, the right data, and a serious rethink of how hiring is done.
That’s exactly what we help with.

- We understand both global and Indian perspectives
- And we don’t just find talent, we help you become the kind of brand that talent is excited to work for
